ADMIT YOU ARE A SINNER
In the Bible, Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Everyone is a sinner...you must first admit that.
REPENT (TURN FROM YOUR SIN)
Realizing that you have sinned against God, you must now REPENT, meaning that you will choose to turn from your sin. No one can truly come to God unless they repent and turn from their wicked ways. See Luke 13:3 and 2 Corinthians 7:10 in the Bible.
BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST
Believe that Jesus died on the cross in your place to set you free from the power of sin through His blood, and that He was raised from the dead after three days. Belive that Jesus is not mere mortal man, but the Son of God, who was sent by God, the Father, that whoever would believe in him (JESUS) will not perish (go to hell), but have everlasting life.
RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST
To receive demonstrates that we not only in our mind trust Christ Jesus, but in our whole heart yield ourselves over to Him. You must ask Jesus to actually come into your heart and by His spirit, live in you. Most people say they believe in God, but they don't know him...God wants to know us, and invites us to know Him. See John 3:16, John 1:12-13.
PRAY
God is not interested in some fancy sounding prayer, He loves you and wants you to call out to Him. The simple prayer below, if prayed sincerely and from the heart will guide you to that starting point in your walk with God.
Oh God, I know that I am a sinner, and that up to this point I have lived outside of your plan and will for my life. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary for me, that He truly rose from the dead, and lives forever. Right now, I ask you Jesus, come in to my heart, forgive me of my sins, and give me the strength I will need to serve and love you everyday. I believe that by trusting in you and only you, I AM SAVED, and can look forward to going to heaven for eternity, to be with you...AMEN
