Who's this Pastor Jim guy?

Let me introduce myself. I am a life long resident of Lake County. I lived on Jackson Street in Mentor for 25 years, until I married my lovely wife Lisa. We live in Painesville and have three children, Chris, Jonathan and Amy Dawn.

After graduating from Mentor High School in 1973, I managed our family shoe repair shop in downtown Painesville with my dad for the next 16 years until I went full time in the Ministry in 1988 as an Assistant Pastor at Lakeshore Assembly of God Church in Mentor, where I am now the Senior Pastor.

I have been into cars as long as I can remember. My dad owned some sweet rides including a '56 Fairlane, '66 289 Fairlane, '59 Mercury Park Lane convertible, and a slew of LTD's . In high school, I got to drive our nursery truck, a '59 Ford F-250. It had a 292 cuber with solid tappets, and a Holly carb. I used to get kicked out of the Ford dealers when I was a kid, cause I kept taking over conversations that salesmen were having with customers. Truth is, they just wanted to make a living, and I was there for fun...so I knew 20 times more about the cars than they did. Often area customers would come into the dealers and ask "where is that kid, I need to know something about my car."

I have always had a desire to merge my enthusiasm for cars with my passion to share Jesus Christ with people. That is how Lakeshore Assembly Motorsports came into being. I saw there were lots of believers who also had some cool cars, and I wanted to have a fellowship of Christian car buffs.

Anyhow, I think it is exciting to showcase cars from all over the area. Mentor has become a national hot spot for the sport of auto enthusiasm. The number and quality of cars in this area is mind boggling. Even though I am a Ford man, I respect and appreciate the labor, ingenuity, and art form presented in area rides, regardless of make.

I hope that you enjoy the pics, write-ups, personal profiles, and club pages.

Happy Motorin'

Pastor Jim
